IGCSE

IGCSE stands for: International General Certificate of Secondary Education. At IGCSE students study a package of 7 to 10 subjects. At the end of the two-year course students take examinations which are externally examined by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate. This is an internationally accepted standard of achievement. Many of the IGCSE subjects can be taken at either Core or Extended level. The Extended course covers more material and is more demanding than the Core level.

The Dutch Ministry of Education recognises IGCSE as an equivalent of the Dutch HAVO Diploma. Students who have obtained appropriate grades for six or more IGCSEs can continue with the IB Diploma programme. Alternatively the IGCSE can also lead to HBO (Higher Professional Education) or MBO courses (Middle Level Professional Education) in the Dutch national educational system.

Subjects offered at IGCSE are: English, ESL, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Business Studies, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Art and Music.
