Personal development & achievement
The ISM strongly believes in personal development. Students all receive effort grades, which reflect their input and effort in a given subject. In this way students themselves can see and reflect on their progress both in academic terms and in terms of personal progress. Wherever possible classes are kept small to ensure that teachers are able to respond adequately to the individual needs of the pupils. Each student has a Form Teacher and a separate Form Tutorial is timetabled once a week. During this weekly meeting Form Teachers encourage students to reflect upon their achievement and effort, deal with any issues relating to the whole class, as well as between individual students, and discuss student concerns.
In addition, students in Year 1 have a timetabled Study Lesson with their Form Teacher, which takes place in the Library/Learning Centre. In this manner students are helped to develop good study habits. Reports are discussed individually with each student at an arranged appointment at the end of each term.
