General information

The International School Maastricht shares a building with the Bonnefanten College, Maastricht. It is one of the 9 Dutch International Secondary Schools (DISS) which are divisions of Dutch secondary schools. Established in 1984, ISM provides quality international education for the international community located in the region.

The ISM is subsidized by the Dutch government and by the Foundation for International Education in the Euro-region. It is subject to the Dutch Ministry of Education's quality controls and inspections. The school is a regular member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS), a recognized IGCSE examination center and an IB school.

Currently the school numbers some 207 students who represent 30 nationalities. On leaving, most go on to further education, either at home, in the UK or in the Netherlands.

Faculty

Staff are well-qualified, highly motivated and are of various nationalities. Most have international experience and many are native speakers of English. Staff development is actively encouraged and all IB teachers regularly attend IB conferences on their subjects.

Parental Involvement

The Parents' Support Group (PSG) works closely with the school and has a regular meeting with the Coordinator. Regular items on the agenda are issues such as educational standards and development, activities and assistance in extra-curricular activities. Each school year has two parent representatives. In addition, the PSG organizes social events for the parents and is a vital link between the parent body and the school.

The PSG publishes a monthly newsletter including information from the school. The school maintains close contact with the parents and holds parent-teacher evenings. Teachers are available for individual meetings and parents are always welcome to make an appointment or call. See the section "Who to contact" for further information.

The PSG has its own website: www.ism-psg.org
